Importing DITA Topics -- Work in Progress

You may create DITA files directly in the DITA Manager Storm editor, or you may wish to import DITA files that you have created with another tool, such as Notepad

Before creating simple text DITA files in an external editor such as Notepad that you intend to import into DITA Manager, review the list of DITA element supported by the DITA Storm editor. You access that information at the DITA Storm web site http://www.ditastorm.com/supportedDitaElements.html.

After you have created a valid DITA file, import it into the DITA Manager following the steps described below.

  1. Log on to DITA Manager with your user name and password.
  2. Scroll to the relevant project and click Open.
  3. In the A area, click Open Source directory in File Manager. The DITA Users TimeLines log-in window appears
  4. Log in to DITA Users TimeLines.
  5. In the Files bar of the TimeLines window, click Upload.
  6. Click Browse and select the file for upload.
  7. Click Upload New File. The new file appears in the list of project files in the DITA Users TimeLines File Manager.
  8. Return to the DITA Manager window and click the Explorer Refresh button to update the server.
The new file appears in the list of project files in the DITA Manager. Next, using DITA Manager you will verify the validity of the imported file.
